Choices Privacy Policy

Overview

Choices is an app that helps caregivers create visual AAC-style choices from typed or spoken input. This policy explains what information Choices processes, how that information is used, and who may receive it.

Information Choices Processes

Choices may process the following categories of information:

• Text you type into the app to create choices.
• Audio you record if you use microphone transcription.
• Generated prompts, transcriptions, and images needed to provide app results.
• Anonymous technical information such as install identifier, app version, build number, IP address, and request timestamps.
• Rate-limit and session data used to keep the service available and reduce abuse.

How Information Is Used

Choices uses this information to:

• transcribe speech into text,
• generate images for choice buttons,
• operate and secure the backend service, and
• diagnose reliability issues and prevent misuse.

Third-Party Services

Choices uses third-party infrastructure and AI providers to operate. As of March 30, 2026, this includes Render for hosting and OpenRouter and its model providers for transcription and image generation. Information sent to these services is subject to their own terms and privacy practices.

Data Retention

Anonymous session data may be retained for up to 90 days so the app can reuse an existing session and the service can enforce basic limits. Short-lived rate-limit data is retained only as long as needed to protect the service. Choices does not require account creation.

Children

Choices is intended to be used by adults such as caregivers, parents, teachers, and therapists while supporting a child. The app is not designed as a social network or open community for children to use independently.

Your Choices

You can avoid sending audio by typing choices instead of using the microphone. If you do not want cloud-generated images, you may choose not to use those app features.
