Choices Privacy Policy
Last updated April 13, 2026.
Overview
Choices is provided by JakeSoft, LLC. Choices helps caregivers create visual AAC-style choices from typed or spoken input. This policy explains what information Choices processes, how it is used, when it is shared, how long it is kept, and what choices you have.
Choices does not require account creation. Some features can work entirely on-device, while cloud-powered features may send information to the Choices backend and service providers to generate images or transcribe audio.
Information Choices Processes
Depending on which features you use, Choices may process the following categories of information:
- Typed choices, prompts, and edits you enter in the app.
- Audio you choose to record if you use microphone transcription.
- Transcriptions, image-generation prompts, and generated images needed to return app results.
- Anonymous technical and session information such as an app-generated install identifier, session token, app version, build number, platform, IP address, and request timestamps.
- Rate-limit and security data used to keep the service available and reduce abuse.
- On-device data stored locally on your device, such as choice history, cached generated images, and app settings.
How Information Is Used
Choices uses this information to:
- transcribe speech into text when you choose microphone transcription,
- generate images for choice buttons when you use cloud image generation,
- operate anonymous sessions, authenticate requests, and apply rate limits,
- diagnose reliability or security issues, and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce app terms if needed.
Third-Party Services
Choices uses third-party infrastructure and AI providers to operate cloud features. As of April 13, 2026, this may include Render for hosting and session infrastructure, OpenRouter for AI request routing, and model providers selected through OpenRouter such as OpenAI, Google, and Black Forest Labs for transcription and image generation.
When you use those cloud features, the relevant text, audio, prompts, generated results, and related technical metadata may be sent to those service providers to fulfill your request. Choices does not use third-party advertising SDKs and does not use your data to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Choices shares information only with service providers needed to operate the app's cloud features, and we require or expect those providers to handle the information in a manner consistent with the purposes described in this policy and with appropriate safeguards for the role they perform.
Data Retention
Backend session records may be retained for up to 90 days after the most recent activity so Choices can reuse an existing anonymous session and enforce basic limits. Short-lived rate-limit records are retained only as long as needed to protect the service, typically minutes and up to about one hour depending on the limit being enforced.
The Choices backend is designed not to keep a separate long-term content library of the typed text, audio, prompts, or generated outputs you submit for a request after the request is fulfilled. However, short-term processing, temporary buffering, system logs, and service-provider retention may still occur as part of operating the service.
On your device, the app may store up to 50 history entries that include transcripts, labels, prompts, and image data until you delete them from the History screen or remove the app. Cached generated images remain on-device until you delete them in Settings, iOS clears cached files, or the app is removed. Anonymous install and session identifiers may be stored in the iOS Keychain while needed to maintain the app's anonymous session behavior.
No Tracking or Sale
Choices does not use your data for cross-app or cross-website tracking, targeted advertising, or data sale.
Your Choices and Rights
You can choose whether to use cloud-powered features. You can type choices instead of using the microphone, and you can turn off cloud image generation or withdraw cloud processing consent in the app's Settings at any time.
You can also delete saved history entries from the History screen, clear cached generated images from Settings, and contact us to request deletion of server-side data we can reasonably identify. Because Choices does not require accounts, we may need details such as the approximate date and time of use, app version, and device context to locate an anonymous session, and in some cases we may not be able to identify every anonymous request with certainty.
Security
Choices uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information processed by the service. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children
Choices is intended to be used by adults such as caregivers, parents, teachers, and therapists while supporting a child. The app is not designed as a social network or open community for children to use independently. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Choices inappropriately, contact us and we will review the request.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version at this URL and revise the "Last updated" date above.
